If amateur golfers have high sheer and lateral bending forces, why do they generate a slower club head speed?

Question by alexander: If amateur golfers have high sheer and lateral bending forces, why do they generate a slower club head speed?
I read that amateur golfers have a slower club head speed then pros even though they have higher shear force, later bending force, and peak torque then a professional.

Hold a full size kitchen broom out in front of you with your arms extended and the bristles running vertical. Hold it like you would a baseball bat as it will be too heavy to hold it like you would a golf club. Now swing it like you would a baseball bat horizontally. Can you feel the intense drag on the broom as it swings through the air. OK now turn the bristles horizontally and make the exact same swing. BINGO! You should have , not only more speed, but can actually hear the swish as it goes by your head.

That is the premise and now here is your answer. Anyone can increase their golf swing speed and it takes only a few things to do so. It doesn’t matter whether you are a professional or a beginner starting out. And it is not magic either. It is pure physics and methodology of execution. Some of the smallest golfers in the world can generate golf swings that equal the drives of the longest hitters. Case in point: Anthony Kim and JB Holmes. Sure they are professionals but they are very small compared to the average on the tour.

From the mouth of one of the longest long drive champions out there : He states “Power comes from a lack of tension in the arms and shoulders and a soft grip.” Now remember that he said from a “Soft” grip. He did not say a loose grip and he did not say a firm grip.

I am going to give you about 3 different sources and their websites will be listed below. One of these will be The Golf Swing Speed Challenge and the other one will come from another long drive champion by the name of Jacob Bowden. And then there is Eric Jones who is also another long drive champion.
And last but not least one of the most pure strikers of the ball would be Ben Hogan and you can find his swing method on YouTube.

There is one more aspect of generating clubhead speed and this is explained in detail by Shawn Clement also on YouTube or at his website. This is one of the keys to distance and is more than worth the time to see it in action.

Thanks and Hit em Straight,
Dan
