Ernie Els, Making a Difference in the Autism Community with Golf

The Center for Disease Control averages 1 in 110 children in the United States have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  This means that the chances of knowing a child with autism are pretty high.  The more known the disorder is the more efforts there are to do something about it.  Famous golfer, Ernie Els, has an 8-year-old son with autism, and he is using his experience, recognition, and determination to really make a difference in the autism community.<!–more–> The Els for Autism Foundation was created in 2009 and since then, many events have been held to help raise the set goal of million for the Els For Autism Center of Excellence.  These centers will host researchers, as well as medical and clinical specialists that will communicate with and guide families in education and therapy programs.  This free, digital service is part of the goal is to connect families all over the world with best practices for their children on the autism spectrum.” said Liezl Els, Ernie Els wife and co creator of the Foundation.

Many individuals are taking part of this mission to create the Center.  Adam du Plooy, will run in the Marathon Des Sables in 2011, and hopes to raise ,000 for Els for Autism.  As well, the Annual golf tournament “Els for Autism Pro Am” which began in 2009 has raised more than .45 million for the cause.  This year the Foundation is holding the “Els for Autism Golf Challenge” for amateur golfers.  During the challenge teams join with a minimum donation amount of ,500 to compete in this tournament.  The tournament takes place in April to September of 2011 in 25 courses across the U.S.

Ernie Els has already donated 6 million dollars to the foundation, but most importantly has raised the public’s awareness of autism through the media.  Celebrities really can make a huge difference, because they have the power to get the public’s attention.  Els has used this influence by bringing golfers and fans into the fight against autism.  Els wants to be remembered “as somebody who took the issue of autism and did something with it.”  He was awarded the United Nations Peace Award for his efforts with autism in the U.S. and South Africa.  He most definitely will be remembered for what he has done with the Els for Autism Foundation, and it will be exciting to see how the Els For Autism Center of Excellence will help the autism community.

Teaching adults to swim

Children take to water as easily as fish do. In some cases, children learn to swim before they can even walk, especially if they have parents who are swimmers. Children who have parents that are not swimmers are usually more slow to appreciate the beauty of swimming, but with time and a bit of effort, even adults can learn to swim and can then pass the love of swimming along to their children.

Anxiety in Autism: Exposing a New Treatment Method

The hefty monthly subscription fee at the bottom of the home page will drive away a fair portion of its audience as well. I’ve seen a lot of sites structured in this fashion, most of them scams, which usually promote a breakthrough product and charge an unrealistic price by pushing “package options”. I’m not condemning the site; if it really works, families that sign up may very well benefit from it. I’m not about to try it for myself, though. I’d rather save my 1 and find a more flexible way

progressed. To my understanding, there are two sides and many layers to what is accomplished. For one, a parent like Elaine achieves connection to her autistic child by being engaged in the same activity—parallel play, if you will. Is it what she wants to be doing? Is it something she deems appropriate for the age or environment? Of course not. But let’s not forget what else occurs: the child experiences a social aspe

Q&A: 3 golfers V, Ernie, and Phil had a total of 210 top-10 finishes…?

Question by Nefer: 3 golfers V, Ernie, and Phil had a total of 210 top-10 finishes…?
Ernie had 11 more top 10 finishes then Phil. V had 15 more top finishes than Phil. Determine the number of top 10 finishes for each golfer???

Best answer:

Answer by forse_peutetre
Put Phil as x, that way you know that ernie= x+11 and V= x+15

Then you can make an equation

x+x+11+x+15=210
3x+26=210
3x=184
x=61.3 recurring This doesn’t make a whole number, so either the numbers are wrong or my simple maths has gone out the window but that is essentially how you do it :D
