Should my friend buy Used Callaways or Clones?
Question by : Should my friend buy Used Callaways or Clones?
My friend is a very beginner golfer and needs new clubs. He has been using other peoples or his grandfathers, which are forged clubs from the 60′s, so he definitely could benefit from cavity clubs.
Anyways, he has narrowed his choice down to used Callaways from their used outlet store online or clones from golfideas.com. Does anyone know if golfideas is even legit?
Also, he is 5’6′ and did the calculations from one of those sites and it said he should get 1/4″ taken off his clubs, but most sites only offer 1/2″ incriminates. Would it be better to go smaller or stay standard in your opinions?

First of all, consider that Callaway is a named and recognized brand on the golf scene. They have excellent engineering which has been evident in all their products. If the clubs have been used and are in their store they have been refurbished to Callaway standards. We already know that they are properly weighted due to their engineering. As to reducing or increasing the lengths of shafts 1/4 to 1/2 inch that is a lot of nonsense. Guaranteed that your friend will grip his clubs differently each time he uses them. He is not sophisticated enough to feel a 1/4 inch difference. If he is too short just grip down on the shaft to accommodate the height. Stay away from clones !! Who knows what quality control, if any, has been applied to their manufacture.
