All of us may know that Mark Wilson is one of the greatest golfers in the world. Wilson has since added three more PGA Tour victories; the 2009 Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun. Mark Wilson claimed his second PGA Tour win of the season as he beat fellow American Jason Dufner at the second extra hole of a playoff to win the Phoenix Open Monday.

In his first 216 career appearances on the PGA Tour, Wilson won exactly twice. There was no predicting the start to Mark Wilson’s season. No amount of research that could have led to some clues, no amount of inside knowledge that could have led to this conclusion.

I’m just riding the train as long as I can,” Mark Wilson said after sinking the winning putt. “This is the best golf I’ve ever played in my life.” And Mark Wilson has now won two of his last three starts and becomes this season’s first multiple winner.

“I didn’t sleep great last night. It was probably the excitement with the Super Bowl and the uncertainty of today.” And Mark Wilson was asked if he was more nervous Sunday night watching the Super Bowl or coming down the stretch Monday trying to win a golf tournament.

“I’m more nervous, I guess, before I get started,” Mark Wilson said. “Once I’m out there, and each shot I’m not as nervous as leading up to it. So when I was warming up, when I was getting here, in the locker room, I did something silly. My caddie has been picking me up all week and I left my wife with the car keys. This is not what I needed right now. So now my heart is beating a little faster. But once I get out there and hit the shots, I’m not as nervous as before.
