According to a Golf Digest study the odds of a ace are

Tour player making an ace: 3,000 to 1
Low-handicapper making an ace: 5,000 to 1
Average player making an ace: 12,000 to 1

Between 1983 to 2003, there were 631 aces on the PGA Tour

John Hudson achieved fame during the 1971 Martini International tournament held at the Royal Norwich Golf Club. Teeing off at the par-three 195-yard 12th hole, Hudson holed his tee shot for a hole-in-one. At the next hole, the 311-yard par-four 13th, he once again holed his tee shot, for another ace. This is believed to be the only time a player has scored holes-in-one at consecutive holes in a major professional tournament.
